A South Bend drug dealer is going to federal prison.

25-year-old Denzel Rakim Bridges was sentenced in federal court this week to 6.5 years in federal prison with three years of supervised release.

Officers on a search warrant went to his home in South Bend in May last year after getting a tip of heroin trafficking taking place at the home. Officers found a two loaded handgun, $3,600 in cash, marijuana, heroin, and multiple Ziploc-style “gem packs” containing a substance that later tested positive for heroin.

Bridges was convicted of heroin possession and firearm possession during a drug trafficking case.
