South Bend residents may not need to drive to Kalamazoo much longer to get their Trader Joe’s fix.

The Trader Joe’s in Kalamazoo only opened in October, but the store manager there tells the South Bend Tribune that many customers at the store hail from the South Bend area.

Dan Sorscher believes that Trader Joe’s does have its eye on South Bend, saying “it’s only a matter of time.” He notes that Notre Dame offers a natural fit for Trader Joe’s, whose specialty items often draw the interest from Millenial “foodies.”

The specialty store chain has 474 stores in 41 states and opened 14 last year.

A company spokesman higher up than Sorscher told the South Bend Tribune that there aren’t currently plans to open a Trader Joe’s in South Bend.
