Instant Pot recalls one cooker model, reports of overheating and melting

The makers of Instant Pot have recalled the Gem 65 8-in-1 Multicooker after reports of the product overheating and melting, according to ABC News.

The company posted a Facebook post on February 17, stating, “We have received a small number of reports of the Gem 65 8-in-1 Multicooker overheating, resulting in localized melting damage to the underside of the product.”

The recall only affects one of 14 Instant Pot models, with the batchcodes 1728, 1730, 1731, 1734 and 1746. Batchcodes can be found on the bottom right of the product label.

If you own an Instant Pot with one of these numbers, stop using it immediately and contact the Customer Care Team at 1 (800) 828-7280 x 2.

The company plans to provide updated information regarding the recall within the next few weeks.

This recall does not affect pressure cookers.
