Three Elkhart County deputies credited with saving overdose victim

Three Elkhart County officers are being hailed for saving the live of an overdose victim.

On June 14th of last year, the victim as found unresponsive after overdosing at a fast food restaurant on Ash Road. Police were told beforehand that the man was harassing customers and under the influence of a drug.

Officers Jeremy Overmyer, Casey Polachek, and Anderw Miller arrived and found the man unresponsive, without a pulse, and turning blue. The officers’ CPR training and use of two narcan doses brought the victim back to consciousness.

A doctor at the Elkhart General Hospital said the officers’ efforts directly saved his life.

The three officers were honored with medals last week.
