An alleged drunk driver crashed his vehicle into the one car you don’t want to crash into.

Indiana State Police arrested an 18-year-old Wolcottville man after the teen allegedly crashed into a state police car on U.S. 20 east of LaGrange. Officers discovered shortly after midnight Tuesday that Austin McKnight had been driving erratically before a state trooper gave chase.

Suddenly, the car started backing down the road. The officer swerved left to avoid the driver, but the driver also swerved in his direction and backed into the officer’s car.

McKnight was treated at Parkview LaGrange hospital. His blood alcohol content level was allegedly almost three times the legal limit. He’s facing multiple drunk driving-related charges, including:

  • Operating While Intoxicated, Greater than .15% BAC
  • Operating While Intoxicated, Aggressive Driving
  • Reckless Driving
  • Minor in Possession of Alcohol
