Police in Elkhart are looking for a suspect in an attempted child abduction.

Officers were called to the 1000 block of West Garfield Avenue around 5 p.m. Monday. The victim, a 15 year old female, told them she was walking from the area of Prairie Street and Middlebury Street to her home.

When she was in the area of 6th Street and Dr. King Drive the suspect drove up to her, stopped and got out of the vehicle. She says the suspect grabbed her and forced her into his vehicle then drove off.

She says she fought with the suspect as they drove for a couple of blocks before she was able to get away. The victim ran home and the police were called.

The suspect was described as an older white male with a bald, wearing a black jacket and driving a small older model blue 2-door truck with a loud exhaust.

Anybody with information on the identity of the suspect is asked to contact the Elkhart Police Department at 574-295-7070.
