One dead in Tuesday morning South Bend shooting

One man is dead after a shooting in South Bend.

South Bend police and Metro Homicide officers were called to West Dubail near Pulaski Street shortly before 9 a.m. on Tuesday where they found the body of a young man.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Tuesday afternoon, the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office released the following information about the shooting:

St. Joseph County –Shortly after 9:00 a.m. this morning, South Bend Police Department officers were called to the 1700 block of Pulaski St, South Bend, where they discovered a young black male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit (CMHU) was activated, per protocol, to handle the investigation. Investigators have already interviewed several witnesses, and continue to interview witnesses and review evidence.
No arrests have been made in connection with this investigation, which remains active and ongoing. Anyone with information related to this investigation is asked to call CMHU at 235-5009.
An autopsy is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. tomorrow. Investigators are still working to notify family members, so the name of the deceased is being withheld at this time. We will notify the public with further information as we are able to do so.
