Police say LaGrange County driver had BAC that was four times the legal limit

One man was arrested in LaGrange County Wednesday after driving under the influence with a Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) of more than four times the legal limit.

Around 6:45 p.m., LaGrange County Deputies were called to a home in the 7300 block of N 910 W on reports of a Domestic Disturbance.

A man who had been involved, but had left prior to deputies arriving, later drove back to the residence in his 2000 Jeep during the investigation. He was identified as Joshua Carl Sweet, 33 of Shipshewana.

Sweet was found to be under the influence of alcohol and reportedly blew a .373 BAC in a preliminary test. He refused further testing.

Sweet was arrested and transported to the LaGrange County Jail, and faces the charge of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated.

The reported domestic disturbance was also investigated, and a case report will be filed with the LaGrange County Prosecutor’s Office. Criminal charges are pending.
