If you see an increased police presence around Penn High School Monday, don’t be alarmed.

Local departments are staging an active shooter drill at the high school starting at 9 a.m. Monday. WNDU reports it’s expected to last several hours and is meant to mimic an active shooter at an after-hours event.

The agencies taking part are: St. Joseph County Police, Mishawaka Police, Penn Township Fire Department, Clay Fire Department, Mishawaka Fire Department, St. Joseph County Emergency Management, Memorial Hospital, Elkhart General Hospital, St. Joseph Medical System, South Bend Fire Department and more.

People should not mistake the police presence for an actual emergency.
