South Bend Police officer relieved of duty after incident at local store

A South Bend Police officer has been relieved of duty with pay after being stopped by loss prevention staff at a local retail store.

It happened on Tuesday, Sep. 25.

At the request of South Bend Police Chief Scott Ruszkowski, the Indiana State Police is investigating the incident and will present its findings to the St. Joseph County Prosecutor for review.

An internal investigation by South Bend Police is also taking place.
