RV shipments down in September

It’s a possible sign of trouble for the local economy, as the RV Industry Association reported a slow-down in shipments.

Shipments of all RVs were down 29% in September compared to the same month last year, according to the South Bend Tribune.

The RV industry employs tens of thousands of people in Elkhart County, but the slowdown has not resulted in any mass layoffs at this point.

The latest numbers say Elkhart County’s unemployment rate was 2.4% in September, which is still among the lowest in the state.
