South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg has announced part of his political future.

During a news conference on Monday, Dec. 17, Buttigieg said he will not run for a third term as Mayor of South Bend.

During the news conference, Buttigieg said he will not be making any announcements regarding his political future before January.

When asked by a local TV reporter if he had any comment about a potential presidential run, Buttigieg responded, “Nope.”

He also hasn’t decided how or whether to be publicly involved in the coming local election cycle. He said as a voter and resident, he will be “looking for a mayor that recognizes the challenge of holding a community together while driving real results and making necessary change.”

He said for as long as he holds the office, residents can expect his administration to “work hard, accomplish their mission and deliver services that empower everyone to thrive.”

Buttigieg’s current term is over at the end of 2019.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
