Will that be paper, or plastic? SpartanNash/Martin’s deal is now complete.

The deal for the South Bend-based Martin’s Supermarket has closed.

SpartanNash, a Michigan-based grocery and retail store group, announced the finalized deal Thursday. The deal is for the 21 stores in northern Indiana and Southwest Michigan, which employ 3500 people.

The deal was first announced in November and the transaction closed on December 31.

SpartanNash President and CEO David Staples says the company has the greatest respect for the Martin’s management team and it’s commitment to their associates, customers and communties.
