A Chicago man has been charged with felony rape in a case in South Bend involving a woman in a wheelchair.

Kevin Lozano-Espinosa, 23, was charged last week with the felony rape of an acquaintance. The woman says she was assaulted on Jan. 12 in South Bend and says she knew her attacker, saying he had a relationship with one of her family members.

The victim, who has limited mobility, told police that he forced her to have sex with him after she went to bed for the night and she fought back by scratching him.

When the suspect was arrested he had similar marks on his arms and back.

The suspect has submitted a sample for DNA testing.
