A woman who was a passenger in a car that was struck by another vehicle on Bremen Highway has died.

The collision happened Saturday morning near Petro Drive.

Investigators say a Jeep driven by Alan Tarchala, 33, crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a Chevy Spark.

Sherry Lynn Ameil, 60, of South Bend died shortly afterward.

The woman’s daughter, who was driving the Chevy, suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Tarchala was booked into the St. Joseph County Jail on unrelated warrants.
