Woman charged in friend’s fatal fall from vehicle roof

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. (AP) — A 20-year-old woman has been charged with reckless homicide in the death of a friend who fell from the roof of a vehicle she was driving in northwestern Indiana.

The (Northwest Indiana) Times reports that Kayla Foster appeared in court Tuesday and was ordered held on bond in the LaPorte County Jail.

Tiffany Butts died Oct. 30 from injuries suffered in the Sept. 23 fall in Michigan City. Court documents say a witness saw Butts climb on top of one of two parked vehicles. Both vehicles then were driven away. The witness said she saw Butts fall from the rear of one of the vehicles and strike the pavement.

A Feb. 26 bond-modification hearing is scheduled for Foster. Another court hearing will be held April 4.
