Two Cassopolis residents face charges in Elkhart County in the death of a 10-year-old girl who died after ingesting methamphetamine.

Prosecutors say the girl and her 9-year-old sibling were taken to an Elkhart home last June by her father, Brandon Hobbs, 34, and his girlfriend, Erica Reschke, 30. The girl died at the home. Toxicology tests revealed high levels of the drug in her body.

Investigators say both children required caregiver supervision due to special needs.

Reschke has been charged with two counts of neglect of a dependent resulting in death, a level 1 felony, and one count of neglect of a dependent, a level 6 felony. She faces a maximum penalty of 42.5 years at the Indiana Department of Correction.

Hobbs has been charged in two counts with neglect of a dependent, a level 6 felony. He faces a maximum penalty of 2.5 years at the Elkhart County Correctional Complex.

Both suspects have a trial date scheduled for May 6.
