Monday night the South Bend Common Council approved a bill that launches a new Rental Safety Verification Program.

The program, also known as RSVP, was co-sponsored by four members of the council. It’s designed to promote the health and safety of renters in South Bend by requiring the meeting of minimum standards of decent, safe, and sanitary conditions.

Once an inspection is completed, Code Enforcement issues a Certificate of Rental Safety to the property. You can learn more about RSVP with this story at the city website.
