Letter of intent for plan to improve Navarre Middle School in South Bend approved

The Indiana State Board of Education has voted unanimously to approve South Bend Community School Corporation’s letter of intent to develop a plan to to improve Navarre Middle School after six failing state accountability grades.

The Indiana Board of Education calls the letter “a plan to a plan.”

ABC 57 News reports the South Bend School Board of Trustees, Superintendent Dr. Kenneth Spells, and Deputy Superintendent Dr. Todd Cummings were present, on Wednesday, March 6, for the board’s decision, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

School leaders must develop the transformatipn zone plan by May for the state board to review.
