Constantine couple charged with child abuse

A Constantine Michigan couple was charged with child abuse after police were called to a hospital in Three Rivers to investigate injuries to a 7 month-old baby.

According to the police investigation, the infant’s 20 year-old mother had violently shaken the baby, hit her head against a wall, and slapped her across the face. The child suffered skull fractures and bruising.

Doctors were concerned when the child’s injuries didn’t fit with the story the mother and the 26 year-old father told them.

The mother was arrested for first-degree child abuse. The father faces a charge, as well, for failure to report the abuse.

The child suffered skull fractures and bruising.
