Worker dies after accident at plant in northeastern Indiana

COLUMBIA CITY, Ind. (AP) — Authorities say a worker has died after being accidentally crushed at a plant in northeastern Indiana.

Whitley County Coroner Randy Dellinger said Monday that 55-year-old Kevin Sieber died of crush injuries at the Steel Dynamics Inc. facility in Columbia City.

Emergency crews were called to the plant Friday and Sieber was pronounced dead at the scene. Dellinger says the circumstances of the accident are under investigation.

Steel Dynamics says it is working closely with authorities on the investigation. Company officials extended their sympathies to Sieber’s family.
