A Michigan State Trooper from the Niles State Police Post suffered minor injuries Friday afternoon after he was dragged by a car and thrown into the roadway.
Officials say he stopped the car in question around 3:30 Friday afternoon in Benton Harbor and smelled intoxicants on the driver, who refused to provide a driver’s license. When the Trooper attempted to open the car door to arrest the suspect, they put the car into gear and drove away with the Trooper hanging on to the door and the steering wheel.
The car crashed into a parked car a thousand feet later and the Trooper was thrown into the road.
The suspect attempted to flee on foot but was captured by other officers. He faces numerous charges, including weapons felonies.
