Mentone woman dies after being struck by a train

A pedestrian was killed when struck by a train.

The collision happened on Monday afternoon, April 8.

Mentone Police say Patricia Appel, 39, was crossing from the north to the south side of Main Street at the railroad tracks at the time of the incident.

Witnesses told authorities that Appel was appeared unaware that the train was approaching and was wearing headphones at the time.

She was hit by the train and suffered fatal injuries.
