A man died in a crash in Prairie Township Sunday morning.

It happened in the 4400 block of State Road 8 shortly before 5:30 a.m.

LaPorte County deputies say 58 year-old Lewis Hunt crossed the center line and went off the road, driving across a lawn before hitting a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
