An 11-year-old girl is recovering after being hit by a vehicle.

The collision happened on Tuesday afternoon, July 9, on Lincoln Way West and Allen Street in South Bend.

Officers found the girl with an injury to the back of her heard.

She was taken to the hospital and was found to have no further serious injuries beyond the head laceration.

Through the investigation, officers learned the juvenile tried to cross Lincoln Way West on a bike as she stated she was attempting to get away from other juveniles.

The driver of the vehicle reported heading eastbound on Lincoln Way West and seeing the juvenile ride out in front of her.

The driver attempted to stop but was unable to do so in time.
