Gas leak in South Bend’s Greene Township

Traffic was impacted in part of South Bend’s southwest side after a gas leak.

NIPSCO crews were performing routing maintenance work Thursday when damage occurred to a 24-inch natural gas line near the intersection of Roosevelt and Mulberry Roads. That’s in Greene Township.

Crew members worked with local emergency responders at the site to ensure the safety of everyone in the area. A 1000-foot perimeter was evacuated, which included less than ten homes, and the road was shut down for part of the afternoon.
