SBPD credit community with helping apprehend suspects in two recent shootings

The South Bend Police Department has made multiple arrests in relation to recent shootings in the city.

19 year-old Jermaine Newsome Jr was arrested in connection with the June 29 shooting at an apartment on Putnam Place.

He faces burglary with a deadline weapon, criminal recklessness, and battery with a deadly weapon charges.

In a separate case, 30 year-old Emmanuel Guevara and 24 year-old Jorge Guevara were arrested and charged in connection with a shooting on July 13 on S Sheridan.

Their charges include battery with a deadly weapon and criminal recklessness.

In both cases, the Department says the community played a vital role by contacting the police and providing information.
