Fire Station No. 9 opens in South Bend’s River Park Neighborhood

Monday morning, a process that began roughly 20 years ago ended with the opening of a new Fire Station in South Bend’s East Side.

Station 9, in the 2100 block of Mishawaka Avenue in the River Park neighborhood, was erected to replace a much smaller station that dates back to the 1920s.

The new station building will serve as the home of Fire Engine 9, a new ambulance, and a new boat launch for river rescues.

While I understand that a new building was needed, what they built was WAY OVER THE TOP!! A waste of taxpayer money!!!!!!!!!!!!!
