South Shore will be watching train line closely during heat wave

(Jon Zimney/95.3 MNC)

The intense heat has the South Shore Line keeping a closer eye on train service for the rest of the week.

The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat watch for Chicago and Northern Indiana through Saturday, and the South Shore says due to the dangerously high temperatures they will closely monitor the tracks, overhead wires, and other mechanical components that can be affected by the heat.

They remind riders that any changes in schedule or disruptions in service will be posted quickly at their website.
