Man charged after allagedly hitting police officer with his vehicle

A man was arrested on resisting law enforcement charges after he allegedly struck an officer with his vehicle while leaving the scene.

It happened on Monday, July 22, at Colfax Avenue and Dr. Martin Luther King Drive where officers arrived and found James Jenkins slumped behind the wheel of a vehicle and traffic behind his vehicle backed up, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

Jenkins awoke,  started his vehicle and told police was just going to pull out of the way of traffic, but then Jenkins attempted to drive away, ABC 57 reported.

As he drove away, Jenkins’ vehicle struck the responding officer, ABC 57 reported.

Jenkins was captured and charged with two counts of resisting law enforcement.
