Potential new Menards location generates plenty of talk

A proposed move for the Mishawaka Menards store is not sitting well with some residents of the neighborhood that’s being considered for the bigger store.

At a neighborhood meeting Monday a number of people expressed their opposition to the possibility of the store moving from Main and University Park to a spot on the other side of Cleveland Road.

Many said their biggest concern is the potential for increased traffic in an already congested area. The new location is in close proximity to the Countryside Estates neighborhood, and residents there are also concerned about noise pollution.

A second feedback session is being planned, and a public hearing is scheduled for the Mishawaka City Council meeting next Monday, when a decision could be made.
