Bridgman man shot during domestic incident charged with home invasion

A 33-year-old man who police say was shot after he forced his way into a home has been charged with 1st degree home invasion.

It happened on July 30 at a home in the 9700 block of Evergreen Drive in Bridgman. Investigators say it stemmed from a domestic situation.

The wife of the break-in suspect, Christopher Davis Betts, of Bridgman, was in the home.

Betts punched the homeowner in the head. The homeowner’s gun discharged during the fight and struck Betts in the leg.

Betts was arraigned on Thursday, Aug. 8, and posted bond. The homeowner is not facing any charges.
