Man, 43, arrested for illegally entering two homes in Bridgman

A 43-year-old man who lives in Bridgman and Berrien Springs has been arrested after police say he broke into two homes in Bridgman.

Officers were called around 9:45 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8, to the 4200 block of Orchard Street. Investigators say the homeowners arrived home and discovered the suspect inside a bedroom. The man took off on foot.

About three hours later, police were called to the 9700 block of Baldwin Road after another homeowner was woke up by their dog barking.

They discovered a man inside their home. They confronted the suspect and he took off on foot.

A police K-9 unit was requested to track the suspect. A short time later, “Echo” and his handler located the suspect laying in the yard behind a nearby shed.

The suspect was taken to the Berrien County Jail on two counts of Illegal Entry.

It appears the suspect was able to enter both homes through unlocked doors, according to police.

Neither home sustained any damage and both owners advised officers that nothing appeared missing.
