The South Bend Fire Department, in conjunction with Clay Fire Territory, Mishawaka Fire Department, Saint Joseph, and South Bend Police Departments, will host a Patriot Day Remembrance Ceremony on Wednesday, Sep. 11 at 9 a.m. at the 9/11 Freedom Memorial in St. Patrick’s Park, 50651 Laurel Road.

The ceremony will honor soldiers who were killed in combat in the global war on terror in Iraq and Afghanistan, first responders who died while actively serving, and all who paid that ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001. Representatives from Mayor Pete Buttigieg’s office, Senator Mike Braun and Congresswoman Jackie Walorski’s office will attend and speak at the event.

Fire Chief Steve Cox said, “South Bend Adams High School graduate Katie McCloskey was among the 2,763 souls lost when the World Trade Center collapsed on September 11, 2001. We reflect and never forget the service of the men and women who put their lives on the line when others are in danger.”

95.3 MNC’s Mark McGill will emcee the remembrance ceremony.
