EEE Danger Still Looms in Elkhart County

With warm weather and rain on the way EEE continues to be a threat around Michiana. While there have been no confirmed cases in Elkhart County, groups of mosquitoes did test positive for the virus.

The Goshen News is reporting that Elkhart General Hospital doctors are testing several people that could be infected. Nothing has been confirmed, but regardless it underlines the real threat. Dr. Lydia Mertz says that there is no specific treatment for the virus, and in some cases patients have become so ill they have to be placed in a medically induced coma or on a ventilator.
