Elkhart’s Fire Chief is resigning

The decision was confirmed by Mayor Tim Neese’s Chief of Staff.

A formal announcement should be coming soon. Chief Chad Carey is leaving to follow an opportunity elsewhere, though he can’t say where right now. The Elkhart Truth reports that in the interim Assistant Chief Steve Kamp will hold the position.
