Alabama man arrested in South Bend for failing to register as sex offender

A man convicted of rape in Alabama was arrested in South Bend after failing to register as a sex offender.

The St. Joseph County Police Department received a tip that Danny Jay Ryans was living at a South Bend apartment complex and had failed to register.

ABC 57 reports Ryans was required to update his address, and register as a sex offender, within 72 hours after moving.

Ryans told detectives he moved to Indiana from Alabama in 2018, and knew he was required to register but had failed to do so.

He’s now been charged with one count of Failure to Register.
