Fatal Officer Involved Shooting Early Friday Involving Bristol PD

A Bristol Police Department officer is on leave after a fatal officer involved shooting this morning.

It happened in the early morning hours as a police pursuit came to a stop in St. Joseph County Michigan near Barker and Vistula Roads. The suspect vehicle crashed into the officers patrol vehicle and the shots were fired shortly after.

Very little information about the suspect is available but according to police the suspect was male, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The officer had minor injuries, and was immediately placed on administrative leave per standard procedure.

Since it ended in Michigan, State Police there are handling the investigation.
