For the second time in two weeks, a strong fall weather system has created powerful beach erosion and other problems along the Michiana lake shore.

And like the system a few weeks ago, the swells and waves were expected to climb as high as 8 to 12 feet in some parts of northwest Berrien County.

A Lakeshore Flood Advisory was declared through the early morning hours of Wednesday, and wind gusts associated with the system were expected to stay around 30 to 35 miles per hour with winds closer to 45 miles per hour.

People were strongly urged to stay off the piers and remember that the beaches were being battered with dangerous flooding.

Further north in Ottawa County the erosion has been so heavy that officials are seeking a permit to build a seawall.
