An independent candidate for South Bend’s Common Council is seeking a recount in District 6.

WSBT reports that at a press conference Thursday, Eli Cantu is expected to ask the St. Joseph County Election Board to count the number of write-in ballots cast.

Cantu lost that race to Democrat Sheila Niezgodzki but says voters have expressed concerns about the votes failing to be counted or reported.
