A new Navy warship will be named in honor of Senator Richard Lugar on Monday.

The USS Richard G. Lugar will be named in a ceremony with Senator Yodd Young and U.S. Navy Secretary Richard Spencer, as well as members of the Lugar family, at the Indiana War Memorial.

The ceremony is planned for 2:30 p.m.

Lugar volunteered to serve in the Navy and was an officer from 1957 to 1960. The vessel will be the next Arleigh Burke Class Destroyer.
