Millersburg man arrested after train/car collision in Granger

A Millersburg man was arrested on preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an injury crash after a train collided with a vehicle in Granger.

The crash happened around 8:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2019  in the area of Brick and Currant Roads.

Upon arrival, St. Joseph County officers located a vehicle next to the train near Brick Road. The vehicle was unoccupied.

Approximately one-hour later, dispatch received a call from a male stating that he was the driver of the vehicle struck by the train.

Officers met with the driver, Patrick Twyman, 25, and he was placed under arrest.

The incident is still being investigated by the St. Joseph County Police Department and officers from the Canadian National Railway.
