The man found guilty of murdering a South Bend woman was sentenced Wednesday morning to 65 years in prison.

Marshun D. Lloyd, 26, heard his sentence in St. Joseph County Superior Court.

Fifty-five years of his sentence will be served in the Indiana Department of Correction, and ten years were suspended. He was ordered to serve ten years of probation after his release.

Lloyd pleaded guilty in November to the murder charge. The victim, Ashley Starr, was discovered in her home on Huron Circle in South Bend on March 10th of last year after she failed to show up for work. An autopsy revealed that she had been stabbed over 100 times.

Starr had a protective order against Lloyd, who had a history of domestic violence.

Stabbed over 100 times…that’s not enough time for that heinous a crime. Where’s the death penalty?
