State Police, truckers join efforts again to fight human trafficking

(Jon Zimney/95.3 MNC)

The Michigan and Indiana State Police say they are stepping up their efforts in the fight against human trafficking.

January is National Human Trafficking Awareness Month. During the week of January 13 troopers in both states will be working closely with their fellow troopers in Illinois and Ohio to educate motorists about the warning signs of trafficking activity.

The organization Truckers Against Trafficking is also a partner in the effort, working to inform people who are often in places where trafficking activity happens, such as rest areas and truck stops.

The partnership between the State Police and the truckers organization has been ongoing since 2015.
