Neighbors aren’t happy, but an overhaul of the Osceola drag strip is taking its next ste. County officials on Monday signed a new plan that would reclassify the property and set stipulations for any future expansion.

The stipulations include more buffer space at one corner of the property where an expanded track would have been less than 100 feet from residents homes; a change to the curve on the track, and a rule only allowing top fuel cars once a year.

The Elkhart Truth reports that the county still hasn’t responded to a lawsuit that was filed to stop the rezoning. Hoosier Motorsports is the new owner of the strip.
