The latest numbers from the CDC show 44 states, including Indiana and Michigan, are now listed as having high flu activity, as well as Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia.

The season is at a “widespread epidemic level” according to officials, with Idaho and Alaska as the only states shown to be in the minimal activity range.

Indiana is one of 39 states listed in the highest level of flu activity, and has had 64 deaths associated with flu this season.

The numbers in the report are from week seven of the Influenza Season, for data ending February 15th.

The CDC says nationwide, 14 thousand people have died of the flu, and add that the season still hasn’t reached its peak.
