Catholics in South Bend have been dispensed from their obligation to attend Sunday Mass.

Bishop Kevin C. Rhodes of the Catholic Diocese of Fort Wayne and South Bend issued a statement Friday afternoon, saying the obligation has been lifted from March 15 through the March 29.

The Bishop urges Catholics to refrain from shaking hands for the Sign of Peace, opting for non-physical contact, and also says that all are asked to refrain from holding hands during the Our Father if that’s a custom in your church.
