Elkhart County has reached a settlement with the family of a woman that died in the custody of County Community Corrections.

A $720,000 settlement was reached between the family of Laminika Dockery and the county.

The Elkhart Truth reports she suffered a medical emergency at the work release facility in Goshen in July of 2018, after days of complaining about a pain in her stomach. An autopsy showed that she died of a bacterial infection that had gone untreated.
