Governor Whitmer signed an executive order on Thursday extending Michigan’s established stay-at-home order to the end of April.

In an address Thursday afternoon with the state’s Chief Medical Executive, Whitmer said more than 1,000 Michiganders have died of COVID-19.

The model from the University of Michigan suggests that this week was the peak for the virus in Michigan.

Whitmer said “we are in control of our fate,” and “when we all take this seriously, we will save lives.”

Thursday afternoon, Michigan health officials reported a total of 21,504 coronavirus cases in the state, and more than 1000 deaths.
