It all started with a simple traffic violation, but when Elkhart County Deputies pulled over 32 year old Maria Joiner she gave them a fake name and an ID that did not belong to her.
Booking her under the false name her ruse was eventually ruined when her mother called police and told them while she was out of town her car had gone missing and was involved in a crash. That vehicle was the one Joiner had been driving.
The bodily waste charge is because she allegedly claimed she had Coronavirus, started coughing, and then spit on an officer.
Police also discovered she had warrants out in Cass County,IN and in Illinois.
